Today at the market I witnessed a woman beating her kid. I don’t mean smacking his bottom, I mean beating him. At one point she punched him in the back of the head. This continued through the store. I had said something a few times and finally followed them to the parking lot and called the police to report it. They very nearly ran me over with their car trying to get away.The police talked to the boy and looked him over; they didn’t see any bruises or anything. So social services will follow up and I presume do nothing.I’m absolutely disgusted about this. I thought the kid was maybe 4 or 5 based on his size – apparently he’s 9. That worries me, too. What’s worse, as I was waiting on the police and talking to the dispatcher, the mom and grandmother were screaming at me and threatening me with just about everything. Then the kid started screaming at me to go away and swinging to hit me. All he knows is violence, that’s obvious.I really hope that this experience at least scared the mom enough to not ever punch her kid again, but doubt that will happen.This week has been one of the shittiest ones I’ve had in a long time.
